We crawled thousands of brand posts on Facebook yesterday to bring you this post from CoffeeMate USA. This particular post from CoffeeMate is definitely jacked up on caffeine, getting some hyperactive engagement from fans with thousands of likes and shares within 24 hours.
The Taggs algorithm brought this particular post to my attention, but the strategy being implemented here by CoffeeMate is one I’ve seen many times. If it’s not a weapon in your Facebook visual content marketing arsenal, I suggest you add it.
Do you prefer A or B? If A, then Like. If B, then Share. It’s an age old Facebook engagement strategy, adding a little competition and fun into a piece of content. What I really like though about the CoffeeMate post is that they took the time to create a compelling visual piece to go along with the simple question. Text in posts takes time and thought to read, and a Facebook reader flipping through their timeline might not take the time to stop and read the text.
However, the Facebook image post grabs fans’ attention. It causes them to put the brakes on for just a second when going through their timeline. In this case the image not only grabs attention, but it also includes the simple call to action – Like or Share – Vote on which one you prefer.
The Visual Content Marketing Takeway
Always take the time to create an image post to go along with the text. Better yet, as CoffeeMate did, include the call to action in the image itself. People may never even read the text of a post, so be sure that your Facebook image also calls the reader to action, inviting them to engage. Keep the call to action simple and keep it clear. Engagement will follow.
